Pattaya, Thailand

When Sean first mentioned to me, while I was in Brisbane, that we might head down to Pattaya for our meetings to escape the madness of Bangkok, my first thought was this article by Conor Purcell.

Not exactly what I would have thought of as a quiet destination where we could get plenty of work done (and relax too). But Pattaya is doing a lot to rid itself of its old image and promote itself as a family destination. At this point I cannot say how well they are doing on this front. The sun is just about to go down on this place and that's when everything comes alive.

The place we are staying in is worth several posts all to itself. It's that strange and we'll be sure to share that weirdness.

This part I'd enjoy. Fortunately, one can people watch anywhere, but perhaps not see the diversity as here.

Those who like people watching will be in paradise. Sit in a promenade side restaurant as the sun goes down and just relax and let the freak show begin. Every type of lunatic is represented here. The obese, the clinically insane, the elderly, the very young, Russian mafiose, German paedophiles, coked up thugs, beer boys, pill heads, scumbags of every variety.
