My Sunday was spent on Khao San Rd checking out internet cafes and some of the market stalls in the area.

Another overcast day with high humidity that gave way to afternoon showers.

The first taste of real Thai food I got on this trip was at a restaurant on the roundabout where the Democracy Monument is.

This place is frequented by Thais and other Asian people and has an outside set of tables.

I started off with a spicy coconut soup with chicken. This thing was loaded with lemongrass, mushrooms and tiny chilis. It was served at about 3000 degrees C which left me sweating and wiping my eyes. Main course was a seafood curry with rice. Along with a Singha beer this cost 360 baht.

I tried passing conversation with the staff who were hanging out and who shared their limited English to understand my comments. They seemed nice people. My age and marital status were topics of interest (this is Asia, no suprises).

Heading back to Khao San Rd Premiership soccer matches were starting and I got to watch my favourite team Arsenal while sipping a cold Chang beer. Amazing how well this 'brand' has been spread around the world, you can almost get off a plane anywhere in Asia and people are looking at the tv schedule for games.

On the street one of the bug vendors had parked his cart and visitors crowded round for a light snack.

Fortunately for my my dinner had filled me and I didn't need any extra protein.

I had bought a satay strip from this lady the day before and fruit vendors also were out looking for business.

Will be nice to branch out and get out of this tighly packed traveler ghetto.
